Folliculaire cysten

Een cyste is een zakvormige holte met een vloeibare of halfvloeibare inhoud. Cysten in de huid ontstaan meestal door verstopping van een haarzakje; dit worden folliculaire cysten genoemd. Dergelijke cysten kunnen tevens andere oorzaken hebben, zoals chronische irritatie van de huid en haarfollikels, verwondingen, erfelijke factoren en stoornissen van het afweersysteem. Er bestaan verschillende soorten folliculaire cysten, waaronder epidermale cysten, trichilemmale cysten en steatocystoma multiplex.
